ABOUT US
Rod and Jewells have always been huge animal lovers. On one of their first holidays to Koh Samui back in 2017, they took a wrong turn on their scooter and discovered all the abandoned street dogs living at Coral Harbor pier in Pang Ka. Back then, there were about 50-60 dogs there.
Every time they would go back to Koh Samui for a holiday, this same pier was the first place they’d go so they could revisit and check on all the lovely dogs there. In 2020 they moved to Koh Samui permanently and instantly became more active in the street dog ‘welfare’ scene.
Sadly, even more poor dogs were dumped at the pier during Covid.
Numbers steadily increased from 50-60 and rose to over 130 dogs.
In early 2024, a series of circumstances (ie: pressure from local residents plus a possible Government redevelopment of Coral Harbour pier) put the dogs there at risk. Dog numbers needed to be reduced there and it had to happen quickly - or else.
Rod, Jewells and Dee quickly scrambled and launched a ‘GoFundMe’ to secure some fenced land in order to save many of these dogs. This property, that cares for these relocated pier dogs, is now called ‘The Haven’.
